Our Annual Report 2025 has arrived!

In 2025, the shipping industry finds itself in a challenging juncture, where significant long-term investment decisions must be made. At the same time, uncertainty about the future has rarely been greater. Discussions on establishing a global level playing field for emissions reduction have collapsed, and there is an urgent need for sustainable fuel supply in the sector. In addition, geopolitical tensions are rising, with trade tariffs and port fees being announced, only to be withdrawn or suspended shortly thereafter.

Belgian shipowners have responded to these challenges with resilience and determination. We have seen strong growth in the fleet under the Belgian flag, and this upward trajectory will continue in the coming years. Our members have invested heavily in newbuilds and in future-proofing their fleets. In the years ahead, we will see the delivery of vessels capable of reducing emissions by more than 40%, as well as ships able to operate with zero emissions. The fleet will become younger and more resilient to changing market demands.
