ICS Webinar on 'Ballast Water Management Systems – Navigating the Challenges'

The International Chamber of Shipping will be hosting a webinar on ‘Ballast Water Management Systems – Navigating the Challenges’ on 12 March.

It has been ten years since ballast water management systems (BWMS) were first installed on ships and several shipping companies are still struggling with some aspects of the implementation, amongst which the difficult issue of challenging water quality?

This webinar, organised by ICS, will bring together different perspectives on ballast water management system matters to better understand the challenges of various stakeholders.

Yvan Vlaminckx, Managing Director of KBRV member Fast Lines, will be part of the panel to address the following key points:

• Outlining the selection process for the best BWMS for the ship, the company's best practices in place and describing a situation in which the BWMS still doesn't work.
• Explaining the challenges faced by ships on short voyages with the BWM Convention.
• Highlighting the need for regulators to adopt a pragmatic approach to ballast water management.

The webinar seeks to enhance the knowledge of all stakeholders involved in ballast water matters and explore ways to narrow the gap between stakeholders' perspectives.
