With the extension of the EU Emission Trading System (EU ETS) to maritime transport in 2024, the Royal Belgian Shipowners’ Association is organising a kick-off info session for its members this coming 27 October. Representatives of the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport will also take part in the event.
The session will include an explanation of the Belgian Greenhouse Gas Registry.
“There are many practical questions that urgently need to be answered, such as the responsibilities of shipowners, charterers and third-party managers,” said Celine Audenaerdt, RBSA’s Head of Environmental and Technical Affairs. “Or the difference between a trading and a holder account, which documents should be submitted, or whether synthetic fuels or carbon capture could be taken into account.”
For any questions related to the session, members should contact Ms Celine Audenaerdt for further details.
